Public Affairs
What does CLEAT Public Affairs do for Texas Law Enforcement?
The CLEAT Public Affairs team has a large focus on the Texas Capitol, where we fight to maintain officers’ rights, lobby the legislature, and build relationships with political leadership to ensure that Texas Law Enforcement will remain protected.
Over 45 Years of Advocacy
CLEAT was the first to advocate full-time in the state legislature and has a proud record of over four decades of accomplishments. We lobby the state Legislature, and you can read all about our most recent legislative agenda or legislative highlights from years past. Because we believe the next session of the state legislature begins as soon as the last one ends, we also focus on growing local PACs, campaigning to elect our friends in the Legislature, and removing those who are your enemies, making this part of the Public Affairs assignment a full-time operation.
What else does the Public Affairs team do?
- Official spokespersons for CLEAT in the media.
- Event planning for the annual CLEAT Convention, Ride for the Fallen, and Texas Peace Officers’ Memorial services.
- Raising funds with our 501(c)(3) charitable sister organization, Peace Officers’ Memorial Foundation (POMF).
- Social, digital, and print media.
We develop all digital and print publications, such as:
- Texas Police STAR
- Membership Benefits Comparison Brochures
- Membership Packets

CLEAT Public Affairs also develops political messaging and builds creative media to help win collective bargaining, civil service, pay raises or manpower elections, and change the image of local unions with local voters and opinion leaders.
Whether it’s polling statewide or locally, helping associations to become more politically assertive, or helping build local Political Action Committees, CLEAT Public Affairs fights hard to be the rapid response team.
