While police academies and departments train officers in Standard Operating Procedures, state and case law, first aid, firearms, defensive tactics, report writing, driving, and other skills used while on the streets, they fail to prepare these same officers for scenarios where their world can be turned upside down. Sgt. Mattingly will share his personal experiences with being shot, returning fire, the healing process (both physical and mental), the support or lack of by the department, dealing with false allegations, social media, lawsuits, legal battles, family, what to expect if you are thrown into the national spotlight, and a variety of other topics.
